Have you ever watched an older movie, or wanted to watch one but wanted to see what someone thinks about it first, just to find that the only reviews for it are all from when it initially came out? Well I know I have, and it can be frustrating seeing dated reviews or even no reviews at all. It seems like nobody is reviewing older movies through modern lenses, which makes sense, reviews of the new hot movie will get more views than reviews of older movies. I just think its kind of a shame though, the only place a lot of these movies are talked about is on forums or in film schools and aren’t often revisited in a reviewing/critiquing fashion. There has been a slight resurgence of discussing older movies on YouTube, but typically these videos are essays about a specific style of film making and not actually about the films as a whole. I’m hoping to fill that void of modern reviews of older movies, at least as much as I can. For the most part though, I just watch movies all the time, most of them 20+ years old, and figure I may as well write my thoughts on them as I see them.
I would love to make movies someday, its my true dream and I can’t really see myself doing anything else. I am a very very amateur photographer, its just a hobby but I enjoy it and I may occasionally feature photos I take on the sidebar or header area. I doubt I’ll ever make a post about any photo because that’s not what this blog is supposed to be about, but I will be having them just plastered about, mostly cause I think they look nice and it helps spruce up the pages a bit. I was just in Arizona and it was beautiful so lots of those right now.
If you have any requests or suggestions of movies you would like me to watch and review please let me know. I have a very long list of movies on my IMDB watchlist but I basically pick which ones I watch at random. If you leave a suggestion its likely I already know of the movie, but it will probably push it up in terms of my priority to watch and review it. So please leave a comment or email me and I will certainly try to get back to you, and hopefully watch the movie and do an honest write up of it.
Lastly expect a lot of changes to how the blog looks, how I write, what I write about, how often I write, how reviews are structured, etc. I don’t know what I’m doing, or the best way to do it, so I’m learning as I go.
